Breaking News: Police Believe They Have Found Nick Garza

I just came from the Marquis Theater in town and my heart sank when, as I crossed the bridge in town, I looked across to the Marble Works to see bright lights, fire trucks, police cruisers, and yellow tape.

I came home and WCAX in Burlington has confirmed my worst fear: police believe they have recovered the body of Nicholas Garza ’11. According to WCAX, a man’s body bearing the wallet of Nick Garza was recovered from the Otter Creek at approximately 8:40 p.m. this evening.

I trust that I can speak for all members of the Middlebury College Community when I express my deepest condolences to Nick Garza’s family and friends, especially his mother Natalie, who has been his strongest advocate and a beacon of hope.
