How’s this for the rumor-mill: Tim Spears (formerly a Dean) is now a Provost! Golf claps all around to MiddBlog’s favorite admin…
As far as we can tell, the only other Provost around is Alison Byerly who also gets the Executive VP title too. “Provost” is defined by dictionary.com as “an administrative officer in any of various colleges and universities who holds high rank and is concerned with the curriculum, faculty appointments, etc.”
And Sarah Franco adds, “One Provost’s View” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.”

Update: Prof. Mittell partially confirms the rumor. But okay, don’t get your float your boat just yet, Tim is only going to be Acting Provost for 08-09 while Alison Byerly goes on sabbatical. But it would be fun to have multiple provosts. One could play good cop and the other bad cop.
