Sunday Reading: The Elections Are Over Edition
This week’s news: Democratic Presidential Nominee Senator Barack Obama is now President Elect Barack Obama. That’s so much easier to say. While we may have to wait until next summer to see if the new Windows 7 will add “Barack” and “Obama” to its Spellcheck, I give you today’s reads to those of us already going through campaign withdrawl.
- GAMES: Foreign Policy has 20 questions for Barack. Noticably missing from the list are any direct questions about China.
- TRIBES: One of the things CNN liked to talk about Tuesday night was how McCain was “underperforming” Bush from the 2004 election. Seth Godin though points out why McCain did better the Bush in some areas.
- VISIONS: The New Yorker provides readers with a pictorial representation of Obama’s win.
- PROPOSITION 8: California’s decision to re-ban gay marriage may have broader effects than people were prepared for.
- CHANGE: Talking Points Memo points out that McCain was right to call Obama radical.
- PURPLING: So Obama may not always be able to reach across the aisle, but as this map shows he’s pretty good at reaching across the country.
- RAHM: Obama’s choice of Rep. Emanuel Rahm for Chief of Staff has a few people concerned, but people internationally seem to be intrigued that America might finally have a dove president that’s still politically aggressive. Agree or Disagree?
- MIDDLEBURY: Midd students, at home and abroad, respond to the election.
Website of the week: Change.gov. Yes, Obama already has a president-elect website. Aside from the fact that it no longer asks you for money every 30 seconds, the website isn’t much different than his campaign page. However, for all you who have bought Bush’s Last Day in Office counters from downtown Middlebury, you might want to verify it against the little countdown to the innaugeration in the upper left hand corner.

Come on, MiddBlog. You can spell ‘inauguration,’ I know you can.
