Ben Wieler ’11 Passes Away While Studying Abroad
In an all-campus email, President Liebowitz informed the community that Middlebury Junior Benjamin Wieler died today from complications following an operation to remove a brain tumor. He was studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain at the time.
As mentioned in the letter and on the Admissions Tourguide website, Ben was involved in SGA Constitution Committee and on JV soccer in addition to tourguiding. Academically, Ben studied in Econ department.

As mentioned the email: “Mead Chapel will be open from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight (Friday) for people who want to pay their respects or offer a prayer as we mourn the loss of Ben Wieler. Also, the Newman Club will honor Ben at a mass this Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Green Lounge.”
