This piece points out some of the shortcomings of the organization/security/communication at the event, but it’s also important to note that students played a role in the incident too. I wasn’t outside Atwater on Halloween, but I’ve seen the lines outside the Bunker, when students start shoving and get confrontational with security. It’s not security’s fault that you can’t get into the party, and it’s no reason to be an asshole. Probably everybody in the crowd at Atwater wasn’t drunk, but I bet alcohol played a role in helping some students get that pushy. People get away with such behavior in the bubble, but in the real world it’s a lot less acceptable.
