Room Draw Meltdown?

An hour ago, an email was sent out to Sophomores and Juniors explaining that there was an error in assigning room draw numbers, and that numbers would have to be reassigned.  The email is signed by Gus Jordan, Dean of Students and was sent by dos@middlebury.edu.

There is currently skepticism bouncing around on twitter over the legitimacy of the email.  Midd blog has confirmed that dos@middlebury.edu is a legitimate alias that Dean Jordan uses, but it remains odd that the email was sent to an open list (the type one could “reply all” to). Regardless, it seems improbable that the email is a hoax.

Assuming the email is really from Dean Jordan, I think there needs to be more clarification into how the assignment mishap occurred.  In the email, Dean Jordan explains that an error took place because certain Commons were unfairly privileged in the assignment process.   I know that four Senior Febs (myself included) have numbers in the top 10 and that we are all in different Commons.  I’m confused about how this could work with Dean Jordan’s explanation.

At this point, I think it would be advisable for the administration to both verify the authenticity of the email and clarify how the mishap occurred.

Update: Lee Zerrilla, the Senior Residence Director, has confirmed that the email from Dean Jordan was in fact authentic.

But the email today from “Karin Hall-Koltz” came from a Gmail address, so let’s assume that was an April Fool’s joke.
