Mass Email Diversion: On Ammo and Gas Tanks
The above title was the subject on an email I just received regarding unauthorized items that someone found at Munford House. This is better than that all campus email about raw milk circa 2009, poor underclassmen… you missed out. This one goes out to the post-Midd Notes generation.

Hmm to me these emails just demonstrate a privileged white male private college student mocking a working class woman trying to do her job. Perhaps this could be seen as funny, but unlike the raw milk incident, the power dynamics here are a bit more tipped in the student’s favor, don’t you think? Also, did you ask Linda if it was all right to post this online? Despite trying to hide her identity by blocking out her last name, it seems like that would be important. Just a thought.
I havnt spoken to the writer, but I did think that the “comedy” of the email was more directed at how ridiculous it is that someone stored bullets in Munford, which is where I live, and is supposed to be an “intentional living” house sensitive to creating a supportive and peaceful community. I think the tone is too transparently smug to try and actually mock someone, but then I’m a touchy-feely lit-studies major. So, I can see how it could be read in a more offensive light. In regards to the identities of the emailers I blocked out last names, but figured that since the email went out to an entire residence it wasn’t confidential. That said, if anyone specified on the email list emails me with the request, I will certainly take the post down. Thanks for your input!
