Dispatch – the (only) Middlebury College band that “made it big”?
The band that met at Midd reunited for a six-song EP released yesterday. And today they found themselves climbing up the iTunes charts to number two, second only to the 23 year old Adele. The group (made up of Chad Urmston, Pete Francis Heimbold and Brad Corrigan) is scheduled for three June concerts (two already sold out) in Boston’s TD Garden. Read more

Check out Midd grad Anaïs Mitchell in her performance last Saturday night. Anaïs has released several albums, the most recent being the Grammy-nominated album “Hadestown”. Hadestown, a folk opera, features guest performers including Ani Difranco, Justin Vernon, Greg Brown, and more.

MiddBlog tweeted out about this a few days ago. But when things go viral, more of Midd should get in on the action. Jimmy Wong ’09.5 was the #1 most viewed musician on YouTube yesterday with his response to the “UCLA girl.” His video is almost up to a million views helping his budding acting/singing/improv/producing/etc. career. At Middlebury, Jimmy was involved with the Theatre and FMMC departments, sang lead in a band (The Gremlin’s Kremlin), and sang for several semesters with the Mamajamas.
