Thai Restaurant to Open in Middlebury

That’s right.  Over the past few months we’ve heard rumors, murmurings, whispered wishes.  Today, the Addison Independent squelched all of these with the announcement that a Thai restaurant will be opened in Middlebury in a few weeks (!) Slated to open in early December, Sabai Sabai will take the place of Doria’s, which closed April of 2010.

A menu provided by the Jilandharns features a series of appetizers, salads, entrees, vegetarian dishes and house specials. They include Tom Kha, a spicy coconut milk soup; Sabai salad with fried tofu and peanut dressing; green, red, yellow or Mussaman curry; Pad Thai; Pra Ram; duck served with tamarind sauce; and garlic shrimp.

I’m pumped.

Burritos in Middlebury?

As hard as Proctor might try on some days, Midd just lacks good Mexican food. A good taco, burrito, or quesadilla is pretty hard to find here in Vermont. Well look no further, Green-Go’s Burritos has come to Middlebury!

Come down and try one!

Green-Go’s, located in Frog Hallow Alley, is Middlebury’s only dedicated burrito cart. And with a wide variety of options, including a selection of breakfast burritos, they are certain to become a Middlebury hotspot. The husband and wife team have been in Frog Hollow Alley since Monday, but we’re located before on Exchange St. If you were at Bernie Sander’s Labor Day Celebration on the Green, they were the nice folks serving up burgers and dogs in honor of Vermont’s favorite independent senator.

Green-Go’s is open Monday-Friday from 8-6, and 8-5 on Saturdays. Check out their Facebook page and catch them at @greengosburrito on Twitter!

Furthermore, the folks at Green-Go’s aren’t the only new faces in Frog Hollow Alley. Hide Away Leather and Wood Works has also moved in! So grab a burrito and go check out some handmade leather bags, belts, wallets, and more!

Middlebury & Middlebury

Did you know that the residents of Middlebury College account for approximately 25% of the Middlebury proper population? Yeah, me neither, until I saw the video below. Here, Midd’s own Scott Rowland explains how students can help sustain local businesses by eating and shopping locally. Yeah, I know, it’s a rather obvious conclusion since it’s pretty much impossible to conveniently buy groceries in any other town, but when was the last time you got involved in the community and met someone that’s not directly involved in the administration of the College? Mm hmm. And, really, you can’t deny that all the shops on Main St. make for some great holiday/gift shopping for the folks at home.

Addison County Video Tour

MiddBlog isn’t exactly known for our community coverage but this video on Addison Country is just funny enough (even though it’s 8+ minutes long) to make the cut. Take a tour of our own community…yuppietown.
